Balanced lingual setup according to the philosophy of Professor Dr. Gerber

As a pioneer in dental research and teaching, Professor Dr. Albert Gerber focused on prosthetic stability and the physiological degree of freedom in static and functional occlusion.

He proposed positioning the posterior teeth so that they are slightly inclined toward the lingual side. Lingual positioning helps to improve the retention of complete dentures by enabling a better fit, which ensures greater stability during function. To this end, he redesigned the profile of the posterior teeth to optimize the contact relationship between the cusps and fossae ("mortar and pestle").

This technique recommends positioning the upper and lower teeth in relation to each other, also known as a 1:1 relationship or tooth-to-tooth relationship.

Thanks to a record of the centric relationship, the zenith position of the condyle in the joint socket is determined without compression of the disc and transmitted to the largest masticatory unit, thereby preventing displacement of the prosthesis and reducing stress on the soft tissue.

Prof. Dr. Gerber's philosophy is complemented by an articulator that integrates the principles of the inverted cone and allows the lower jaw to perform all movements freely and naturally.

Of course, before implementing this type of setup, a careful clinical assessment is essential, considering the morphology of the dental arches and the functional needs of each patient.
