Candulor and the University of Marburg Maintain an Intensive Cooperation for Over 15 Years

Theory meets practice - and has done so for more than 15 years: The University of Marburg and Candulor are setting new standards in prosthetic education. The special course model “Setup Course according to the GERBER Concept with Live Patient Demo from A-Z” gives students deep insights into complete denture prosthetics, from model analysis to full patient treatment. A concept that enables future dentists to truly understand and evaluate the technical implementation required for complete dentures - ultimately ensuring optimal solutions for patients.

Prosthetics at University Level - Taught with Practical Relevance

What began as an idea in 2010 has now become a fixed part of the Marburg curriculum: an intensive prosthetics course in which dental students not only learn the theory but also set up and fabricate dentures themselves under the guidance of experienced dental technicians.
Candulor and the Swiss School of Prosthetics (SSOP) support the students as they work on a phantom model - including detailed insights into the Gerber philosophy and modern complete denture techniques.

Live Experience Instead of Grey Theory

Parallel to working on the phantom model, a patient is treated live: bite registration, selection of tooth shape and colour, wax try-in, characterization, and final insertion. This immediate transfer of practice enables the students to gain a profound understanding of workflows and quality criteria - both in the laboratory and with the patient.

The aim is not to train dentists to become dental technicians - but to equip them with the tools to plan, assess, and manage laboratory work competently.
They learn how to:

  • formulate precise specifications
  • professionally evaluate technical results
  • clearly identify optimization potential to ensure excellent fit and comfort for patients

Scientific Exchange with Real Added Value

The cooperation is mutually enriching while the University of Marburg contributes scientific expertise, Candulor provides the corresponding know-how from dental technology. This interplay has made the curriculum more sustainable, hands-on, and practice oriented.

Continuity Despite Generational Change

With Prof. Dr. Matthias Karl and OA Dr. Daniel Weber, the new team in Marburg continues the successful cooperation - a clear sign of the partnership's value. The course will remain a core element of the dentistry program in the future.

Candulor and the University of Marburg demonstrate that high-quality prosthetics arise where dental and technical expertise come together. Through exposure to real dental technology practice, students gain confidence, enabling them to treat patients safely - and ensure optimal prosthetic care.
