From October 6 to 10, our annual “Power Week 4 in 1 - Dental Expert Training” took place in Zurich (Zwitserland). Under the guidance of the experienced SSOP-docents Ron Scholte and Sabine von Sinner, students from Norway, Australia and Poland came to Zurich to improve their knowledge to a higher level in one week.
“Wil je in slechts vijf dagen een expert in tandprothetiek worden?” - deze ambitie is het programma.
During the Power Week, theory and practice, basic principles and desk-based knowledge, blank books and laboratory work are merged into a compact blank format with a clear message. Four courses in one week - bundled knowledge, concentrated in five days.
Day 1: Clinical basisprincipes van totale protheses
The approach was based on this theory course, which focused on anatomical impressions, registration, chewing stability and the positie and stability of the prosthesis - the essential components for reproducible treatment successes.
Day 2: Technical basisprincipes van totale protheses
On the second day, the focus was on the technical processes behind a high quality tandprothesis. Work processes, materials and new technical stages are analyzed in order to link the theoretical basis to practical application.
Dag 3 & 4: Hands-on volgens het GERBER-concept
The other half of the day was dedicated to the GERBER concept: after the model analysis, the fronts and edges were optimized - a perfect way to harmoniously combine function and aesthetics.
On the middle of the last day, the traditional race trip was on the program: this time it went to the House of Läderach in Bilten, where the students were introduced to the world of Zwitserse chocolate - from cocoa beans to vloeibare chocolate.
De avond werd op een heerlijke manier afgesloten aan het meer van Zürich - met inspirerende gesprekken en een prachtig uitzicht op het meer in de avondschemering.
Day 5: Materiaalkunde en uitwerking
The last day of the course was devoted to material processing and finishing: inbedden met siliconenmanchetten, modelisolatie, conditionering van kunsttanden, afwerking en statische en dynamische occlusie. Precision, systematics and a good workmanship for a perfect finish characterized this solution.
Een intensieve week, maar zeker de moeite waard, zoals een “kersverse expert” op het gebied van totale protheses vertelt:
„De inzet van de docent was echt geweldig en heeft ons enorm geholpen om het werkingsprincipe volledig te doorgronden. The knowledge that we have gained during the course has prepared us optimally to deal with the lessons not only under ideal conditions, but also under real conditions and to act in a more self-reliant way. Conclusie
Onze SSOP Power Week 2025 was opnieuw een indrukwekkend voorbeeld van praktijkgerichte bijscholing op het hoogste niveau. International delegates, intensive workshops and personal insights made the week an unforgettable experience.
