For the past 45 years, I have been working passionately as a dental technician, a profession in which precision and an eye for details are essential. Over the past 15 years, I have also had the opportunity to pass on my knowledge and my experience as a lecturer in dental technology at the Dutch HealthTec Academy in Utrecht. This is where I train new generations of dental technicians, with a focus on both the technical and theoretical aspects of the profession. In addition, I teach as a clinical prosthetic technician at the Radboud UMC in Nijmegen, where I instruct students in fabricating precise and functional dentures. This role as a teacher has enriched my career, as I am both involved in teaching as well as being closely involved in the development of this specialized field.
In addition to my regular work, I have repeatedly been involved in international projects where I completed voluntary training in the field of dental technology. This has taken me to various parts of the world, including Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan and Surinam. Of late, I have been particularly active in Surinam. It is extremely rewarding to share my knowledge with colleagues in these countries and to contribute to improving dental care there. It is a very special feeling to know that one's work has an impact on the lives of people in different parts of the world. Furthermore, I have had the privilege of attending various conferences and conventions as an international guest speaker. Through this work, I have come into contact with dental technicians and dentists from all over the world. This network of professional colleagues provides a constant flow of new insights and developments in our field. The exchange of knowledge and experience at an international level not only enriches my work, but also that of the people I work with. These contacts have helped me to stay up to date with the latest innovations and trends in dental technology and to pass this knowledge on to my students and colleagues. Besides my professional activities, I also have a great passion for diving. The tranquility under water gives me a sense of freedom and relaxation. As an underwater filmmaker, I capture this extraordinary world and enjoy sharing my experiences with others. Diving has taught me to combine patience and precision, two qualities that are also very relevant to my work as a dental technician. It is a hobby that keeps me physically and mentally balanced and complements my professional life in a unique manner. My career as a dental technician, teacher and volunteer has given me the opportunity to express my passion for the profession in different ways and to share my knowledge worldwide. It truly remains a privilege to be able to contribute to the development of dental technology in the Netherlands as well as internationally, and to combine my love for precision work and technology with my adventurous spirit as a diver and filmmaker.
